Aims
To prepare a file of work consisting of around 30 poems or equivalent and to show through the file a finally shaped work or body of work along with an essay on the processes of the work.
Outline Of Syllabus
This module will consist of a semester of individual supervision followed by a semester of independent study.

Understanding of the process of shaping and composing a creative work.
Understanding of the preparation of creative work for presentation to an audience or reader.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Each student must consult the module leaders with an initial proposal, submitting an opening plan/draft for comment and discussion.
Each student must attend 3 tutorials across semesters 2 and 3 to report on work in progress for comment and discussion with the module leader, including a session to go over their final work before submission.
The meetings listed above are the basic requirement. The specific amount of time will vary from student to student. Some will attend Feedback and Consultation Hours for brief meetings. Some will wish to have longer sessions at greater intervals after they have built a body of work.
Creative work of this sort needs both the clear overriding structure of the meetings listed above and greater flexibility in terms of the duration and frequency of further discussion.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
File of work of around 30 poems and an essay of no more than 2,500 words.
In the essay students will discuss the processes of drafting and any principles of selection. They will also discuss any relevant information about influences, themes and methods of composition explored in the file. It must include a bibliography of books read and events attended as evidence of research.
