Financial reporting

Course duration: 1 hour

Course content
Finance reporting covers the running of financial reports for all types of account in the University. The course content includes:

  • Running cost centre reports
  • Running research project reports
  • Running non-research project reports
  • Manipulating report data (changing display, sorting, filtering and saving variants)

Human Resources: Drilldown reporting

Course duration: 1 hour

HR drilldown reporting covers the running of the HR drilldown report to view wage costs. The course content includes:

Online Expenses

Course duration: 1 hour

Online expenses is designed for staff who claim expenses and support the expenses process within their section. The course content includes:

  • Entering your own expense claim
  • Entering a claim by proxy
  • Checking and approving claims
  • Maintaining the approvers table
  • Reporting on staff expenses

Cash Desk

Course duration: 1 hour

Cash desk is designed for Interaction team, Finance and Accommodation users who take payments from customers. The course content includes:

  • Opening a cash desk
  • Recording cash, cheque and credit card payments

CRM Interaction Centre for Interaction Team

Course duration: 1 hour

CRM Interaction Centre covers the process of handling student enquiries. The course is designed for King's Gate staff and includes:

  • Finding, creating and maintaining enquirer details
  • Recording new enquiries
  • Processing web and e-mail enquiries
  • Processing prospectus requests

Library staff training

Library training is designed for library staff who need to check staff and student details. The course content includes:

  • Viewing student personal and academic details

Training and Events Management - administrator

Course duration: 2 - 3 hours

Course content
Training and Events Management (TEM) covers Clerk and Administrator roles for creating and booking training events. The course content includes:

  • Creating Business Event Groups and Types (Administrator)
  • Creating Business Events
  • Booking attendees
  • Producing correspondence

Manager's Desktop

Course duration: 1 hour

Course content
Manager's Desktop covers the running of various Human Resources reports. Access to Manager's Desktop is restricted to the Head of School/Section or their nominee. The course content includes:

  • Accessing Manager's Desktop
  • Understanding the screen layout
  • Running reports (e.g. personal details, absences, expenses)
  • Manipulating the report data (e.g. exporting to Excel)
  • Entering and reporting on employee appraisals

 Business Warehouse reporting

Course duration: 1 hour

Business Warehouse reporting is for staff who run BW reports on the myworkplace portal. The course content includes:

  • How to run a report
  • Manipulating report data (changing display, sorting, filtering and saving views)
  • Exporting and printing reports

Accessing student information

Course duration: 3/4 day

Accessing student information is for staff who need to view and report on student data. The course content includes:

  • Viewing student personal and academic information
  • Using BW reports for applicant and student information
  • Using the Student Information Gateway

Processing student information

Course duration: 3/4 day

Purchasing card coding is designed for those who own and approve purchasing cards. It is compulsory for new recipients of purchasing card (the card will not be issued until training has been confirmed). The course content includes:

  • Coding purchasing card items
  • Approving purchasing card coding

Confirmations only for expert buyer

Course duration: 1 hour

Confirmations only for expert buyer is for staff who need to confirm shopping carts on behalf of others, as well as their own. The course content includes:

  • Confirming the receipt of goods and services

Travel only for expert buyer

This course is designed for those who need to approve carts and process Web Invoice Coding and Web Invoice Approval items. The course content includes:

  • Approving shopping carts from email or the myworkplace portal inbox

Shopping for Basic shoppers

Course duration: 1 day

Shopping for Basic shoppers is for anyone with special permission to raise their own shopping carts rather than using the purchasing hub. The course content includes:

  • Logging on to the myWorkplace portal to use SRM
  • Shopping using the marketplace
  • Shopping using free text
  • Copying shopping carts
  • Searching for shopping carts
  • Confirmations

Shopping for Expert buyers

Course duration: 1 day

Shopping for Expert buyers  is for anyone with special permission to raise their own departmental shopping carts rather than using the purchasing hub. The course content includes:
