Self Renewal

You can renew items on loan through Library Search as long as you do not have outstanding overdue charges of more than £5.00. You will need Log in to using your Campus ID and password (NHS/External users login with your Smartcard U number and library password).

Maximum number of renewals
There is a limit to the number of times an item can be renewed:

  • staff loans - 6
  • general loans - 9
  • short loans - 9
When this limit is reached you have to bring it to the Library for renewal. You will be reminded of these limits at the renewal before you reach the limit. You should then bring the book to the Library for the next renewal.

Reserved books
If an item has been reserved by another reader you will not be able to renew it and its due date may have been changed by our system. Please return a reserved book to the Library from which you borrowed it as soon as possible. Reserved books returned after the due date will incur a fine at the recalled overdue rate (30p per day) for their late return. To avoid this, please renew your books before the due date.

Overdue books
If any of your books are overdue, you will not be able to renew them yourself, however, we can renew them at our issue desks.
