Geography and Planning graduate Katie Honey awarded first place in the UGRG Dissertation Prize

Katie's dissertation "Get the London Look: The Geographies of London-Based Beauty Brands and Branding in Response to Social and Cultural Change" took the top spot

9 April 2024

Katie’s dissertation explores the geography of branding, focusing on the beauty industry's use of location. Specifically, it explores how London-based beauty brands represent the city's socio-cultural diversity, and the future for these brands. She did this though interviews and analysing documents, as well as online and TV advertisements.  It’s fantastic to see the quality and rigour of this research be recognised through such a prestigious award from the Urban Geography Research Group of the Royal Geographical Society-Institute of British Geographers.

Katie’s fantastic achievement is testament to her commitment, creativity, talent and eagerness to understand novel topics. The school, university and I are incredibly proud of Katie’s achievement.
