Background

Barry is Deputy Director of the National Innovation Centre for Data. He has deep experience of business and innovation in the software industry having acted as Financial and Operations Director for Arjuna, a Newcastle University tech spin-out and then with Bluestone Software and Hewlett-Packard after acquisition of the Arjuna technology.

He graduated with a BA(Hons) in International Business Management, from the University of Newcastle and the Graduate School of Business, Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Grenoble, France, followed by an MBA with Distinction from Newcastle University. 

At Newcastle University he has played a major role in growing the Digital Institute, bringing over £90M in external income to the University.
