Research

Current Research Interests

  • Neurobiological basis for cognitive and neuropsychiatric symptoms in Lewy body dementias including cognitive fluctuations and visual hallucinations.

  • Application of novel neuroimaging and neurophysiological techniques in dementia (collaborator: Marco Onofrj).

  • Network and multivariate approaches to neuroimaging (collaborators: Sean Colloby, Marcus Kaiser).

  • Clinical characterisation of visual hallucinations (collaborator: Dominic ffytche).

  • Dynamic interaction between vision and cognition (collaborators: Mike Clarke / Daniel Collerton / Urs Mosimann/ Mike Bowen).

  • Use of mice models to investigate cortical dysfunction in Lewy body dementias and develop novel treatments (collaborators: Fiona LeBeau; Laura Bonanni).

  • Prodromal dementia with Lewy bodies clinical cohorts (collaborators: Alan Thomas, Frederic Blanc).

  • Non-invasive stimulation approaches and the application of neurophysiological approaches in dementia (collaborators: Mark Baker, Kianoush Nazarpour).

  • Clinical care models and optimising clinical management pathways for patients with Lewy body dementia.

  • Lead for development of driving and dementia national UK guidelines.

Teaching

    I teach on the undergraduate biomedical sciences course and postgraduate MRCPsych course. In addition I also teach medical students (Stage III and Stage IV).
