Gain a Global Advantage, open to students from across the University, is an afternoon of inspiring talks, interactive workshops and networking with prestigious employers-all with a global focus. In 2017, we received over 1000 sign-ups and heard from keynote speaker Victoria Gibbard from PepsiCo, as well as other inspirational speakers from Uber, Lloyds Banking Group, Ivy Park, Civil Service HR & Deutsche Bank to name a few!
Gain a Global Advantage will give you the opportunity to:
- Network with our guest speakers, prominent experts in their field working for top global companies
- Hear the inspirational stories from Newcastle University graduates who are now global business leaders
- Put your interview skills to the test in front of a student audience in our Global Hotseat
When is the GaGA event?
The event will be in February 2018 and various sessions will be running throughout the day, with the final session coming to an end at 18:15.
Where is the event being held?
The event will be held at Newcastle University Business School in lecture theatres and seminar rooms. We will release more information on room allocations for the sessions by email nearer the time. There will also be posters showing where all the sessions will be taking place up on the day.
Do I have to attend the whole event?
No, you don’t! You can come to as many or as few talks or workshops as you’d like, but you must sign up for all the sessions you would like to attend.
I’m a non-Business School student, can I attend?
Absolutely. We actively encourage students from all degree courses across the University as there are sessions that we believe can inspire and interest any student. Please sign up and tell your friends to come along too.
Do I have to sign up?
Yes! We ask that you sign up so that we can accommodate everyone. We have limited capacity and so we recommend you to sign up as soon as possible, to ensure your place on your desired session.
How do I sign up?
It’s quick and easy. You complete a short form a click submit and you’re good to go. All of the links to sign up to sessions can be found in the session details.
Is it free?
All of our sessions are free of charge.
What do I do on the day?
You just turn up and go to your session’s room, we’ll check your name off a list when you arrive. For any questions on the day we will also have an information desk in the ground floor reception area.
What is the World Café? Do I need to sign up?
The World Café is an opportunity for you to have a one-on-one meeting with one of our senior high profile speakers. These are some of the world’s most successful individuals, many of which are Newcastle University alumni, providing a unique and exciting opportunity for students to learn more about their career path after University and beyond.
We strongly recommend students sign up to the World Café session- this is a unique opportunity to network with very senior people from some of the world’s most exciting companies.
Any student wishing to take part in this must sign up. We ask that you send us what questions you would like to pose to your desired speaker, you can do this on the sign up form.
