What is the North East Energy Catalyst?

The North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has worked with North East Energy Catalyst partners to produce a short film illustrating some of the energy innovation which is happening here in our region.

The North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is a public, private and education sector partnership. They are one of thirty-eight LEPs in the country and are responsible for promoting and developing economic growth in the local authority areas of the North East. 

The North East Energy Catalyst aims to catalyse an integrated energy system, which grows a productive, clean economy for prosperous communities. In addition to developing and showcasing solutions to global energy challenges via innovation, demonstration and delivery.

There are a wide range of partners involved in the North East Energy Catalyst including industry, the public sector, universities, institutions and government bodies are working together to unite this range of opportunities and to:

  • Tackle major energy challenges and deliver on national policy
  • Drive new economic growth opportunities
  • Accelerate regional decarbonisation
  • Invite and co-ordinate engagement with partners
