NCL in Action 2024

Moving on up: Empowering our communities to reach their potential

Uniting our global alumni community to raise aspirations

In March we joined forces with the Newcastle United Foundation  bringing together over 1,000 members of the community – including alumni, colleagues, retired staff and current students – united to support young people and celebrate those who have overcome barriers. This included volunteers who have been connected to 49 schools across the North East.

NCL in Action 2024 began on Friday 1 March with a launch event at St. James’ Park. There were over 500 attendees, both in-person and online, who enjoyed notable speakers such as Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Kim McGuinness and actor/musician Jimmy Nail, the campaign sought to ignite discussions and actions to empower individuals to reach their aspirations.

Overall, over 1000 alumni, students, colleagues and retired staff, from 30 countries around the world joined together to help young people through volunteering programmes alongside NU Foundation and local partner NERAP.

Events were hosted by our international alumni networks throughout the month of March so those unable to join us in-person at St. James’ Park could still get involved and reconnect with their fellow Newcastle graduates. Events were held by alumni networks based around the world namely in China, Singapore, Malaysia and Greece, with over 130 attendees.
