International Chinese Language Day

On April 22nd, the Confucius Institute at Newcastle University hosted a lively evening event to celebrate the 15th International Chinese Language Day. Over 30 students joined in at the Henry Daysh Building, marking the transition from spring to summer term. The gathering, starting at 5:30 PM, featured cheerful mingling among students, teachers, and staff, accompanied by music. Led by Ms. Xiaolu Tan, a CI Chinese teacher, the event included inspiring speeches from Andy Law, the Local Director, and Professor Ruojuan Zheng, the Chinese Director. The atmosphere was delightful, with Chinese taster mini-games and a raffle adding to the enjoyment.
The evening concluded with certificate presentations and a group photo session, fostering a strong sense of community among attendees. Through engaging discussions and communications, students expressed gratitude for the support from the Confucius Institute staff, enriching their learning experience and eagerly anticipating the challenges and joys of the upcoming term.
