Centre for Ageing

We address critical challenges in ageing and promote healthier, more productive lives.

Transforming ageing together

Newcastle University’s Centre for Ageing (NUAGE) aims to create a transformative ecosystem for ageing research and education. It will connect disciplines and faculties, and foster collaborations.

It will also amplify Newcastle University’s reputation as a global leader in ageing research.

We leverage interdisciplinary strengths and industrial partnerships. We also maintain a clear focus on societal impact. We address critical challenges in ageing and promote healthier, more productive lives.

Following a renewal and transformation process, NUAGE will build on and extend the work of the NUCoRE for Ageing and Inequalities (2020-2025). As a result, we are broadening the Centre’s remit. Our work will encompass more of the many aspects of ageing research led by colleagues across the University.

Key objectives

NUAGE’s vision will be achieved via a focus on six key objectives. These relate to:

  • research capacity development
  • education
  • external funding
  • partnership building
  • increasing visibility
  • promotion of interdisciplinarity
