styles can differ between

countries so to help

you feel prepared we

overview of what you can

your studies with us.

Learning styles

Teachin isn’t just about lectures.

Seminars, tutorials and practical

sessions are also likely to form

part of your workin week. This mix

of learnin styles enables you to

explore your subject in more depth,

whether that’s a lively discussion

as part of a small roup seminar,

one-to-one tutorial discussion with

an academic expert, or hands-on

experience as part of a practical

demonstration.

Independent

working

Althou h you will continue to have

timetabled classes, the number

of contact hours may be less than

you have previously been used to.

This means that you will need to be

more self-directed in your learnin

and plan your time. For example,

spendin time in the library readin

and researchin , meetin with

fellow course mates to discuss

shared work and preparin for

seminars and tutorials in advance.

Critical thinking

and analysis

As well as developin an expert

knowled e of your chosen

subject, we want our raduates

to be independent thinkers,

entrepreneurial in their attitudes

and able to embrace chan e.

To achieve this, we encoura e

you to think critically and challen e

ideas, includin your own

preconceptions!

Group working

You won’t be learnin on your own.

Group work is often a key element

of any post raduate course. This

can involve tacklin a challen in

project with fellow students, testin

your theories and deliverin your

findin s. Learn to problem solve

and develop practical presentation

and report writin skills – all

invaluable in the workplace.

Original research

Conduct an ori inal piece of

academic research and build

advanced knowled e in an area

that you feel passionate about

and will be crucial to your future

career development.

Skills development

Alon side developin your

specialist subject knowled e, a

tau ht Master’s course will also

help you to develop transferable

skills in areas such as: teamworkin ,
