MPhil, PhD and MD Research

If you join us as a Doctoral level researcher, you will have the opportunity to contribute to world-leading research.

You'll work under the supervision of senior scientists and other leading academics.

Below are details of two funding opportunities that Healthier Lives PhD projects can apply for.

Northern Ireland and North East Doctoral Training Partnership (NINE DTP)

Newcastle University is part of the Northern Ireland and North East Doctoral Training Partnership (NINE DTP), funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The scheme offers over 50 studentships a year across all partner institutions.

Economics

For students interested in applying for a PhD in Economics, you may be eligible for the Peter and Nora Lomas PhD Scholarship in Economics Established in 2010 by Economics alumnus, Peter Lomas (MA Economics, 1949).

Each year Newcastle University Business School may sponsor 1- 4 studentships under this funding scheme.

The project should include supervisors from the Economics subject groups within the Business School. Further information is available on the Business School pages
