About the course:
This 9-week course is designed to help international students develop the academic reading and writing skills needed to succeed at a UK university. Each week focuses on a different aspect of the research and writing process, moving step by step from reading for ideas to producing well-structured and cohesive writing.
You will learn how to read effectively to support your writing, find and evaluate academic sources, and understand the key features of academic style. The course will also introduce you to critical and evaluative writing, strategies for avoiding plagiarism, and practical skills for paraphrasing.
As the course develops, you will practise building strong paragraphs, creating cohesion across your writing, and writing effective introductions and conclusions. By the end, you will be better prepared to approach your assignments with confidence and greater academic awareness.
