I am a Learning Enhancement and Technology Advisor based in Newcastle University’s Learning and Teaching Development Service (LTDS). I have worked in HE for 11 years, over 7 of these have been specialised within the area of Learning and Teaching.
My main area of focus in my current role is Digital Assessment; I am co-lead for Digital Exam Platform Inspera, sole lead on peer review system Buddycheck and interactive learning tool H5P. In my role I regularly resolve complex problems related to digital education platforms and make robust recommendations to academic teaching teams on suitability of education software for their assessment needs; referring to how such e-assessment would pertain to overall module learning objectives. I develop and conduct training for use of such platforms aimed at supporting academic module teams and conduct student teaching regarding the use of system specific software (Safe Exam Browser). Within LTDS I also deliver webinars and training for Academic Practice, supporting colleagues seeking Advance HE recognition.
In my prior role in Computing (2019-2022) I led on QA of Programme approvals, Module Outline creation and annual updates, Regulations and Specifications. I line managed the Education team supporting student queries, various committees and academics with a wide range of Education support tasks. I also acted as Admissions co-ordinator and ran (alongside Marketing teams) Open Day and Post application Visit Day activity for the School.
I teach on modules aimed at Educators within the university on programmes such as:
- Learning and Teaching Development Programme
- Digital Learning webinars (Open Learn Programme)
- Newcastle Educational Practice Scheme (NEPS)
Covering subjects such as:
Digital learning, technology-enhanced learning, assessment and feedback & EDI based Learning and Teaching.
