Information for all students
Students should ensure that their passports are signed and stamped when entering and exiting Border Control. These stamps will prove the duration of your visit and, more importantly, prove to the visa official that you have not overstayed your 90-day visit. Please not that at border control, you may also need to show:
- A return/onward ticket
- Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay
- Proof of accommodation
All visitors of Slovakia must report the address of their private accommodation to the police by letter, email or in person within 3 working days of arrivial. If you are planning staying longer than 90 days, you must apply for a residence permit. Read more information about this here.
Slovakia is included in the Schengen 90/180 rule, which allows visitors to travel to the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This is calculated on a rolling basis, which means any days spent in the Schengen area in the last 180 days count towards your travel.
Read more about the Schengen rules.
If you're a UK student, you may need to renew your passport. On the day you travel, your passport must:
- Have at least 3 months validity remaining from the date that you intend to leave the EU (this will, in many cases, save you from having to prove the date of your intended leave)
- Be less than 10 years old (even if it will remain valid for six months or more)
It is strongly recommended that your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your entry date to Slovakia.
