Find out which student exchange partners you can apply to as part of your degree
Students doing the Modern Languages Year Abroad follow a different application process. Please check the Year Abroad Support Community on Canvas and attend your SML2099 briefings for guidance. Email year.abroad@ncl.ac.uk with any queries.
You can apply for up to four student exchange programmes. Some partner universities have limited places, often one or two, so use all of your application choices and be prepared not to get your first choice. Some partner universities and destinations are more popular than others, so try to select alternative options from different cities.
We keep our exchange partner information as up to date as possible, but sometimes changes happen at short notice.
It's important that you research the universities you're interested in. Don’t rule out locations you may not have heard of - there are some hidden gems on our lists.
The Year Abroad team in the School of Modern Languages will advise on the Year Abroad application process in Semester 1 of Stage 2.
All Modern Languages Year Abroad students will be added to the Year Abroad Support Canvas Community at the start of Stage 2. Check here for further information and how to apply.
When Computing students can study abroad
Computer Science students can study at one of our exchange partners for a year. This year must take place between Stages 2 and 3 of a three-year programme.
For all students, a year abroad will make your degree one year longer.
