Aims

This module aims to provide you with the opportunity;
1.       to develop knowledge and understanding of strategic and operational practice of third sector organisations;
2.       be adaptable, curious and independent thinkers, in responding to the needs of your client organisations;
3.       develop your leadership skills and appreciation of relevant ethical dimensions related to your projects.

Outline Of Syllabus

Students taking this module will undertake a live action project in a third sector organisation.
The project will relate to a relevant topic covered as part of your programme of study and will enable you to apply your subject specific knowledge in a ‘live’ setting.
You will be supported by a member of staff to identify a suitable project, confirm the terms of reference, develop a plan for gathering the information required, confirm ethics and risk assessment and provide ongoing support for the implementation and management of the project.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship

The lectures and workshops at the beginning of semester 1 ensure that students are prepared for their independent work.

Support and supervision will be provided during workshops and discreet sessions on an ongoing basis to help monitor the project and guide students on how to engage effectively with the host organisation.
