PEALS Executive Director Jackie Leach Scully travelled to Cardiff University, to give the keynote address at Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) workshop.
MAP is a student-based, global network that aims to encourage the participation of students from underrepresented groups in academic philosophy. Her talk, entitled “The difference a difference makes: disability bioethics”, explored well known issues of representation and epistemic injustice in bioethics’ engagement with disability. Other contributions to the workshop discussed how minority voices can be silenced in the academy, and panel discussions led by students explored intersectionality and its role in both exclusion and creating solidarity.
