Assessment & Feedback

To improve clarity, consistency, and accessibility we have created the  Assessment, Feedback and Marking policy. The policy ensures that all assessments have the following elements:

  • All assessments need to be accompanied by an assessment brief, with explicit requirements for what information this must include.
  • Clear feedback expectations must be set out by all module leaders at the start of every module in a synchronous session and on the Virtual Learning Environment (for example Canvas) to set out all the ways you will receive feedback. This must cover what feedback to anticipate across the module, for each assessment, and from which sources (educator, self or peer) to enable you to identify and then act upon this feedback.

You would like to have more information about assessments including how they will be marked, and when and how you can expect to receive feedback

You don’t hear about any changes being made to programmes following your feedback

For the 2025-26 year, colleagues are asked to establish and regularly update a “You Said: We Listened” page on the Virtual Learning Environment (for example Canvas) community space. This should be accessible to you and used to respond to your feedback, including the action taken where appropriate. These can be drawn from all sources of student feedback, from modules and programmes, through surveys, in teaching sessions and through the work of the student representatives and Student Staff Committees. We hope that you will see how we value your input, engage with it and act upon it, and support us to consistently ‘close the feedback loop’ across the University.
