Careers
As well as responding to employer expressions of interest, we are changing our approach this year and will also now be inviting key employers from a range of sectors to our first round of bookings for the Autumn Graduate Recruitment and Placements Fair, giving us greater influence over the spread of employers attending this popular event. In addition to these multi-sector events, we are also working with Faculties and Schools on a number of subject specific and industry themed employer events and pop ups throughout the year.
Careers Fairs need a wider variety of employers
There is a lack of signposting to careers services
To help raise awareness of the Careers Service offer, each School is being offered a funded Employability Engagement Intern through the NCL Internship scheme this academic year. These interns will work closely with School staff and the Careers Service to promote careers-related events, opportunities, and support directly to students, helping to improve visibility and engagement.
There aren’t enough appointments and it’s difficult to book an appointment with the Careers Service
We have introduced additional appointments during peak periods to respond to spikes in demand. In addition, during busy periods we reserve a number of additional appointments for urgent enquiries that are only released the day before. This is designed to give more flexibility so that if all of our advance appointments are booked additional options last minute may still be available. Please see our webpages on how to book our appointments.
