The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Charitable Trust has awarded a £5,000 'Enquiring Minds' grant to our Capturing Lives in Practice veterinary oral history project led by Sue Bradley.
This project, for which we are seeking additional funds, is a collaboration between the Centre for Rural Economy and the RCVS Charitable Trust, with the British Library Sound Archive (National Life Stories) as archive partner. It aims to record the experiences and reflections of veterinary professionals in order to further understanding and debate, within and beyond the profession, about changes in veterinary practice and its societal role in the UK. The project is part of CRE's wider programme of engagement with the profession following Professor Philip Lowe's influential report (Unlocking Potential, 2009) to the Vets and Veterinary Services Steering Group, which he chaired from 2007 to 2009.
