School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences

Engage in study and research that makes a difference to people’s lives, through education and through communication, locally, regionally and globally.

Our aim is to build better futures

The School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences is a unique place, bringing together the disciplines of education, applied linguistics and communication, and speech and language sciences to forge new understanding and new practice. Through all of our work, we aim to build better futures, working with our students and for those we work with.

We offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees delivered by leading experts in their fields. Some of our programmes aim to develop future professionals: primary and secondary teachers, language teachers, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists. We offer a welcoming and well-resourced environment, based in the historic King George VI Building.
