Biography

Dr Akhtar Husain was appointed Medical Director of the new Lighthouse Laboratory and has been instrumental in leading the North East regional lab response to Covid. He is responsible for the overall quality of all clinical services, to ensure they meet all quality standards and performance measures, with a view on continuous improvement and innovation. Dr Husain works passionately towards important goals around equality and diversity, influencing recruiters to consider ethnic and other minorities when staffing in the Lighthouse lab.
