The International Student Barometer 2011 places Newcastle Law School (74 percent) above the national average satisfaction (73 percent) in the integration of international students with non-international students. This means that the Law School is not only one of the strongest schools in the University for international/host Integration, but also that it beats the national average for that year. The 2012 results places Newcastle Law School as the best performing school for integration within Newcastle University at 70 percent and the national average is 72 percent.
The Law School runs the International Student Intensive Guidance and Development Programme (ISIGP) for first year undergraduate and taught postgraduate International Students to facilitate integration into the academic and social cultures within the institution (http://www.ncl.ac.uk/nuls/study/undergraduate/international/tutor.htm). The Law School also runs a very successful mentoring scheme for undergraduate international students. (http://www.ncl.ac.uk/nuls/study/undergraduate/international/mentor.htm). Both programmes are designed, set-up and run by the School’s International Student Tutor, Shamini Ragavan.
