International Studies in Forced Migration (HaSS)

The Research Group on International Studies in Forced Migration was established in 2017/2018, following from the Research Network established 2016/2017, which organised a series of seminars and undertook a number of engagement activities with the City Library, the Discovery Museum, and the United Nations Global Compact on Migration.

In 2017-2018 the Group will hold an event (November 2017) together with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) focusing on children. In Semester two the Group will hold a seminar series co-organised with the Law School focusing on constitutionalism. The Group will also work together with the HaSS Group Cultural Significance of Place, which organises migration lunches.

The Group will continue to contribute to the UN Global Compact on Migration and the UN Global Compact on Refugees, which will be adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2018.

The Co-Convenors of the group are Dr María-Teresa Gil Bazo (Law) and Dr Simon Philpott (Politics).
