Introduction

Prior to joining Newcastle Law School in 2008 I studied law at the University of Copenhagen and the University of Aberdeen.

My teaching and research focuses on various aspects of environmental law in particular relating to rights and justice as well as enforcement and theoretical issues (see SSRN Author Page).

Research Interests

My research focuses on various aspects of environmental law (including UK environmental law, international environmental law and European environmental law). I am particularly interested in issues relating to human rights and the environment and environmental justice. Other interests include the enforcement of environmental law and the theoretical base of environmental law.

Current Work

My current work includes research into the theoretical foundations of environmental law as well as work on rights and the environment. In addition, I am working on a project examining the enforcement of environmental law through so-called enforcement undertakings.

Postgraduate Supervision

I am currently supervising research students researching management of common land and ecosystem services. I am  interested in supervising research students in various aspects of environmental law. In particular the areas of environmental rights, environmental justice, climate change, and international environmental law.
