committeesOur expertise in the socio-ethical aspects of the life sciences has led to individual PEALS colleagues being invited to serve on governmental, third sector, professional and other committees.

Examples of current committee membership:

  • CIRN (Criminal Investigation Research Network), an innovative collaboration between academics and criminal investigators) (2012-ongoing)
  • Wellcome Trust/Medical Research Council Expert Group on incidental findings in health research, September (2011- 2012)
  • Ethics Board of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (2011-2013)
  • International Society for Stem Cell Research Ethics and Public Policy Committee, (2009-)
  • National Research Ethics Adviser to the NHS National Research Ethics Service (NRES), joining a panel of 12 to offer advice and guidance on policy and strategy for the ethical review of research (2009 -)
  • Project Ethics Council to a major EC-funded Network of Excellence, TREAT-NMD (2007 –)
  • Oversight committee of a Global Patient Registry for Neuromuscular Diseases (2008 – )
