Jackie Leach Scully talk on ethics of human gene editing

PEALS Co-Director Jackie Leach Scully was invited to speak at the French Academy of Medicine on the ethics of human gene editing from a disability and feminist bioethics perspective.

In the last couple of years, efficient and safe human gene editing has emerged from the realm of science fiction thanks to advances in gene editing technology. It offers enormous promise for research and therapy, and also raises some difficult ethical issues.

The meeting, held on Friday 29 April, was organised by the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, as part of a major international effort to examine the ethics and governance of this important new technology.
