Ian Wylie

Associate lecturer in Journalism

Background

Ian Wylie has been a journalist for more than 20 years and is currently a freelance writer and editor for the Financial Times, Guardian, Monocle, Management Today and other titles. For 16 years he was a staff writer, feature writer and editor at The Guardian newspaper. He also runs the JesmondLocal news project with Newcastle University student volunteers and publishes and edits quarterly magazine The Northern Correspondent.

Born and schooled in Northern Ireland, he has a degree in Economics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and has previously taught multimedia journalism, design and sub-editing at Newcastle University and online journalism at Sunderland University.
