About Us

About Us

A vibrant school, renowned for our innovative curriculum, staff development, teaching and research.

Our school is located at the centre of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. We're responsible for the delivery of the MBBS, MMedEd and Physician Associate programmes.

Our work plays a key role in the consistent success of Newcastle University’s medical programme in the UK and international league tables. Our facilities are unrivalled in the region.

We have more than 100 staff, including experienced clinicians working in the region’s hospitals, GP practices and NHS trusts. Our commitment to cultivating an equal and diverse learning and teaching environment is demonstrated through our commitment to the Athena SWAN charter.

Our School has specific aims and missions but essentially, people are at the heart of what we do. Our primary goals are to ensure that our teaching programmes are delivered to the highest quality, and to support our students in their pursuit of excellence.

We aim to drive innovation in the way trainers deliver materials, and to ensure our teaching excellence is supported by solid evidence-based research.

Philip Bradley, Head of School and Professor of Medical Education Development.
