Responsible use of student content in marketing

We are committed to authentic, student-led storytelling. Our marketing content must reflect real experiences shared responsibly and ethically.

Authentic storytelling

We regularly use student-generated content to tell the story of our University to prospective students. This includes student content within:

  • blogs and videos
  • student profiles and quote
  • social media
  • photography

To be trustworthy, reliable and also legally compliant, it is of the utmost importance that this student content is genuine. We never create or fabricate student content.

All colleagues are responsible for ensuring that content that they create and share is genuine and fact-checked.  Any content identified as fake should be removed immediately.

Students who take part in our marketing activity are always genuinely enrolled at the University. They are renumerated fairly for their contributions. Payment is specifically for their time, not to influence what they say.

Content checklist

Before you publish student content, this is a useful checklist to follow:

  • is the student a current or recent student?
  • has the student given appropriate consent for the use of their content?
  • is the content accurate and not misleading?
  • has the student been renumerated fairly?
  • is the content free from manipulation or scripting of student experience?
