About the course:
This course supports international students in developing the academic reading and writing skills needed for success at a UK university.
The first five lessons form the core programme, which all students are automatically enrolled in. These sessions focus on the foundations of academic work:
- Reading to prepare for writing
- Literature search skills and strategies
- Key features of academic writing
- What is critical and evaluative writing
- Avoiding plagiarism
After completing the core programme, you can choose to register for up to four additional workshops if you would like to continue developing your writing skills. These optional sessions cover:
- Paraphrasing
- Structuring and developing paragraphs
- Cohesion in academic writing
- Introductions and conclusions
By taking part, you will gain the skills and strategies to read more effectively, write with greater confidence, and approach your assignments with improved academic awareness.
