This module provides an introduction to academic writing in English for Humanities and Social Sciences. It focuses on how to approach written academic assignments by:
- analysing the meaning of assignment titles
- planning the structure of an essay
- outlining methods of integrating sources
- developing techniques and strategies to avoid plagiarism
- providing input on a number of common rhetorical functions which are frequently used in academic writing
