Operation Wallacea

Operation Wallacea is a network of academics from European and North American universities offering biodiversity and conservation research programmes. Students can join as Research Assistants working alongside academic teams, gaining rare field experience and insights into a career in tropical field research.

Where: Croatia, Honduras, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mexico, Romania, South Africa

Cost 

Prices depend on the chosen country and duration. Prices include accommodation and food as well as training courses and transfers between sites. 

 

Accommodation 

Accommodation varies between campsite. Often you will be in tents. Sites have camp beds, army-style tents, or hammocks. 

Experience overview

Activities vary between sites. Mornings may be spent participating in Biodiversity surveys, followed by lunch. More surveys or practical activities may take place in the afternoon, followed by a lecture or night-time surveys. Marine sites will also take part in dive sessions.
