Undergraduate Study in Film
Learn the practical skills of documentary film-making within the context of media and cultural studies.
Our undergraduate Film degrees are rigorous and creative, with a commitment to documentary and non-fiction storytelling.
You'll learn through a combination of practice, theory, and connecting your work to the wider world of cinema.
Students on our programme work in state-of-the-art facilities with industry-standard equipment, taught by award-winning scholar-film-makers.
From camera and sound to editing, you'll develop advanced technical skills through hands-on, crew-based projects. This work is paired with studying film theory and world cinema, where we encourage critical reflection and creative innovation.
On our programmes you’ll build a professional portfolio of creative documentary and experimental non-fiction films, engaging with industry networks through festivals and guest sessions.
Our students graduate as imaginative, resourceful professionals, with the skills and understanding to succeed across the film, media, and creative industries.
While our degrees share some modules at each Stage, they do differ. You can also choose to combine the study of documentary practice with other subjects as part of a Combined Honours degree.
Our Film degrees
It’s unbelievable how quickly you learn when you get your hands on the tools. Before I started my course, I didn’t know anything about camera work, or video and sound editing. After a year practising these skills, I have learned so much.
