Media, Journalism and Public Relations at Newcastle University is a leading research unit with a strong, interdisciplinary culture. Our students learn in industry-standard newsrooms and studios, taught by working journalists and expert researchers.
The work is hands-on - you write, shoot, edit, and publish from the start, building a real portfolio.
We also understand that journalism is part of a wider public conversation. Our courses are deeply-connected to the communities of Newcastle and the wider world. Students work on live projects and collaborate with media partners, treating the region as a workshop for ethical storytelling.
This creates a culture of innovation, collaboration, and integration. We analyse the forces shaping media while developing new forms of reporting.
Our graduates leave with the practical skills, critical insight, and professional networks to build a meaningful, resilient career in the evolving media landscape.
