Meet Lucrezia
Combined Honours BA Honours - Business and Music, Class of 2020
Describe your current role
After 3 years of working in the sync team pitching songwriters’ music for advertising, film, TV and video games placements, I am now part of the central Sell & Serve team at a music publisher.
As a Sales Operations Administrator, I collaborate closely with our Sales and Client Services teams to support the growth, development and client experience of our Publishing business across all territories.
The most outstanding part of my job is how dynamic and everchanging my department is, I focus on a lot of project-based work which means I get to work with a number of people across different areas at all times.
People are definitely a highlight of my job, whether this is internal business teams or external clients such as songwriters, labels or other partners around the world.
What did you enjoy the most about studying at Newcastle?
My favourite part of my degree at Newcastle University was the opportunities I was given to challenge myself with real life music industry jobs via the Music Enterprise modules in 2nd and 3rd year.
Besides applying what I had been learning in lectures, this module allowed me to gain and understanding of the wide music industry ecosystem as well as useful skills such as teamwork, planning and project management which I use in my current career.
I believe my degree at Newcastle helped me build a strong foundation to a successful and sustainable career.
In what ways did your music degree at Newcastle prepare you for your current role?

Besides the knowledge gained from the syllabus, my degree consistently challenged me, fostering my personal and intellectual growth. In fact, here is where I have developed the problem solving, research and soft skills that are supporting me in my career progression.
Amongst all, undertaking this degree prepared me to work with a variety of people, often in an international setting, which has been fundamental in learning how to work in a global business.
