MSc Programme Details

The Newcastle University MSc programmes in Singapore give you the skills, experience, confidence and professional networks to get ahead in your career. Our MSc programmes consist of subject-specific taught modules and teaching methods include lectures, seminars, and workshops. You will still have the opportunity to explore your own ideas and work independently, but you will get plenty of guidance from your tutors.

The MSc programmes are taught by the faculty of Newcastle University at the campus of our partner Ngee Ann Academy in Orchard Road Singapore.

MSC Programme Overview
The MSc programmes provide students with a multidisciplinary understanding of the energy and sustainability landscape, integrating technical, business, policy, security, and analytical perspectives. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to evaluate complex industry challenges, apply data-driven and strategic approaches to decision-making, and contribute effectively to sustainable and resilient organisational and sectoral outcomes.

Graduates will be able to analyse and communicate complex energy, sustainability, and business issues; evaluate risks, opportunities, and strategic options within diverse economic, regulatory, and operational contexts; and apply research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to develop evidence-based solutions that support organisational performance, innovation, and sustainable development.

MSc Energy Management (Renewable Enterprise)

Programme Overview

The MSc in Energy Management (Renewable Enterprise) equips students with advanced skills in sustainability, renewable energy, compliance, policy, and enterprise innovation. Designed with strong industry alignment, the programme integrates applied learning, real-world projects, and mentorship from UK and Singapore experts.

This MSc programme is delivered by Newcastle University faculty members at the premises of our partner institution, Ngee Ann Academy, whose campus is situated in Ngee Ann City along Singapore's premier shopping belt, Orchard Road.

Modules of Study

Module	Learning Objective
Energy Principles	This module includes key energy concepts, for example, types of energy, measurements, technology and distribution. Students are introduced to energy economics, and the regulatory and policy environment at the national and international levels. Key issues relating to sustainability and renewables are discussed.
Impact Analytics and Compliance	The focus of this module is on methodology of energy assessments, reporting and compliances at the organisational level. Students are equipped with advanced skills to conduct energy impact assessments, analytics, policy development and corporate reporting. The module provides the techniques and tools that a Sustainability Manager would require.
Renewable Energy Enterprise	Students learn about different types of renewable sources, technologies, innovations, scalability as well as the business models and commercial context. The impact of renewables on energy supplies at national and international levels will also be considered.
Sustainable Futures	Sustainable Futures focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation and value creation in the energy sector. It considers the economic, policy and social context, and the drivers for sustainability and innovation in energy. Students learn about energy enterprise and how to operate as energy innovators and leaders.
Energy Management and Sustainability	This module explores how users practically manage energy, for example in buildings, transport and manufacturing. It includes learning how to conduct energy audits and assess energy efficiency in organisations. There are also topics on energy sustainability and compliances.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Applications for Energy	Students learn about the use of AI in energy demand forecasting, managing energy load, integration of renewable sources, as well as operating smart and localised grids. The role of AI in sustainable, resilient and efficient energy systems will also be discussed in this module.
Enterprise Project	This is an industry-based project that students undertake throughout their MSc programme. It includes learning project management and research skills, and their use in real energy projects. Students will get the chance to connect with industry, complete an industry-based project, explore career options and receive support through mentorship. The practical application of project work in this module will enable students to become networked and confident energy practitioners.
