Creating Health Impact from Research workshop
Creating Health Impact from Research
Newcastle Wellcome Trust Translational Partnership in collaboration with The University of Manchester will hold another two rounds of ‘Creating Health Impact from Research’ workshops with Dr Nessa Carey.
We have received excellent feedback from the twenty researchers who attended the workshops in 2021.
Training overview
This training is open to all Early Career Researchers (research associates, fellows and recently appointed lecturers) who wish to create health impact from their research and have a translational research idea. The training will help you understand the value of your translational research idea, support you to build networks and write translational funding applications.
This is a joint training initiative from Higher Education Institutions across the UK supported by the Wellcome Trust Translational Partnership Awards. The training is delivered by internationally recognised trainer, Dr Nessa Carey and consists of a mix of learning in your own time and attending scheduled online sessions.
It makes you reflect on your research and the impact it can drive.
Training format
Firstly, there will be two offline videos on delivering impact and how to create an ‘Impact Hypothesis’, followed by writing an Impact Hypothesis and getting feedback on it from Nessa. This will be followed by three live online sessions attended by researchers from both Newcastle and Manchester Universities.
The three live sessions will be on:
- Session 1: Creating Health Impact from Research
- Session 2: Networking Effectively, Digitally and in the Real World
- Session 3: Writing Successful Translational Funding Applications
The best thing was that I was able to visualize the bigger picture to my project. That there are multiple ways to make my work more impactful; not just publications which is only a part of the process
