Extreme weather events around the world have exposed the substantial risks to people and the economy from climate-related failure of the power system.

The necessary rapid shift to Net Zero will further increase the importance of electricity to society. Meanwhile, climate change is already altering the risks to the electricity system.

Much of the world’s Net Zero electricity system is yet to be built, providing an opportunity to ensure the system is resilient to future weather-related risks.

In this Newcastle Discover webinar, Professor Richard Dawson will introduce these issues and set out some of the adaptation actions that are needed to help address these risks and maintain infrastructure that is both resilient and supports Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions.
