The Arches lit up to signify University's support for Culture and Creative Arts

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on the events industry. On the 30th September a worldwide event took place lighting up buildings in red to raise awareness for the plight of this industry and to request that the government supports the event industry to survive this crisis.
The Arches at Newcastle University were among many venues across the region which were illuminated to symbolise the arts sector entering 'red alert' due to the ecomic impact of the coronavirus pandemic, as part of the #WeMakeEvents series launched by the PLASA lighting and sound association.
