I grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. The School currently has an exchange, which I set up, with Dalhousie University (www.dal.ca.), where I studied as an undergraduate. I'm very happy to talk to students interested in spending a semester in Canada.

Research Interests

My research falls into four main areas, all linked by my primary interest in the relationship between gender and genre: women's writing and feminist theory; crime fictions, particularly detective and sensation novels; cybertheory and cyberpunk; and, First World War Studies.

Current Work

I am writing a book on the corpse and forensics in contemporary fiction.  Next up is a book on the rise of the British detective novel.
