My research falls into four main areas, all linked by my primary interest in the relationship between gender and genre: women's writing and feminist theory; crime fictions, particularly detective and sensation novels; cybertheory and cyberpunk; and, First World War Studies.
I am writing a book on the corpse and forensics in contemporary fiction. Next up is a book on the rise of the British detective novel.
I welcome applications from prospective research students in the following fields: C20 women's writing; feminist history and theory; C20 popular culture; cybertheory, cyberpunk and technology studies; sensation and detective fiction; and, First World War studies;
