Background and Previous Roles
I joined Newcastle University as an Operations Assistant in December 2019 and later became an Operations Administrator within the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics (SELLL). I was the co-chair of our Athena Swan SAT where I supported in School in obtaining their Bronze Renewal award. In August 2022 I joined the University's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team on secondment post as an EDI Project Coordinator. I coordinated the Wellcome-funded project to create an online EDI Toolkit for Researchers to help create a more inclusive research culture.
Current Role
In July 2023 I joined the Learning and Teaching Development Service (LTDS) as a Learning Enhancement and Technology (LET) Adviser, where I am a co-lead for our digital exam platform, Inspera Assessment, within our Digital Assessment Team. I founded the UK Inspera User Group where I host meetings across the academic year in which fellow Inspera users across the UK will meet online to share best practice and support each other.
As a member of our Digital Assessment Team, I support with Canvas and Turnitin assignments, as well as Canvas Quizzes.
In addition being a member of the Digital Assessment Team, I also lead on the University's centrally-supported Audience Interaction System (AIS), Vevox. As well as this, I support digital accessibility work in my team and have organised Digital Accessibility Awareness Days for colleagues at the University.
In November 2024 I was awarded my Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). I am now a mentor to colleagues to support them in completing their applications to be a Fellow of the HEA (FHEA).
Additional Roles at Newcastle University
- I am one of the organisers of the NU Book Club where I organise and coordinate monthly book club discussions (June 2024-present).
- I am a member of the NU Women Steering Group (December 2025-present).
- I represent the Academic Services as a member of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Consultative Group (November 2023-present).
- I mentor colleagues as part of the NU Mentoring Programme, where I have mentored two colleagues to date (March 2024-present).
- I am a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) having completed my MHFA England training (October 2025-present).
Presentations and Conferences
- Assessment HE conference, Manchester, June 2024: I co-delivered a presentation entitled 'Transforming Assessment in Higher Education: The Journey of Newcastle University’s Digital Exams Service'.
- Association for Learning Technology (ALT) Digital Assessment Special Interest Group (SIG), Online, November 2025: I co-delivered a presentation entitled 'Newcastle University's Approach to Synchronous and Asynchronous Training using Inspera Assessment for Digital Exams'.
- I was one of the co-leaders of the Learning and Teaching Conference 2025 committee hosted by LTDS.
