Learn from scholar film-makers

Our knowledgeable team of lecturing staff teach our two degrees. They include documentary film-makers in the industry who make films for festival release and broadcast.

We have a dedicated technical team who will support you with your film-making projects.

Our team also includes practical specialists in media, journalism, and PR from across the School of Arts and Cultures. All have professional backgrounds and years of experience in industry.

Dr Ian McDonald

Reader in Film Practice. Director, Research Centre for Film. A documentary film-maker delivering teaching on observational documentary and ideas led film-making.

Dr Alastair Cole

Lecturer in Film Practice, Degree Programme Director for Film Practices BA and Film and Media BA. A documentary film-maker and practice-based researcher teaching documentary film-making and analysis.

Simon Rushton

Lecturer in Film Practice. Delivers teaching on film production and the film industry.

Geetha Jayaraman

Lecturer in Film Practice. Film producer specialising in both fiction and documentary, delivering teaching in World Cinema and Film Practice.

Raisa Sidenova

Lecturer in Film Theory. Film theory scholar specialist delivering teaching on film theory for practice and documentary film history.

Carol Lynn
