Discover how to apply for a short term global opportunity
Short-term global opportunities allow you to gain international experience as part of your degree, usually over the summer or outside of term time.
Shorter placements are a great option if you:
- don’t want to extend the length or duration of your degree, but would like to go global
- have family, work or caring commitments that mean you can’t be away from home for long periods of time
- just want to try something different without a big time commitment
- want to make cultural connections, improve your intercultural understanding, discover a new country and enhance your skills and CV!
My summer experience was a life-changing event, where I gained new skills and made new friends. My one week experience will impact me for the rest of my life.
Something for everyone
Undertaking a short term global placement allows you to choose an experience that’s right for you. Placements range in duration, cost, type and location, allowing lots of choice and flexibility.
We offer a broad range of opportunities across a wide range of countries. These include:

- a variety of virtual programmes
Placements are coordinated by the Global Opportunities team and our fantastic partner organisations. Whether you’re interested in Sustainability, Community Building or Research and Exploration, there is an opportunity available for everyone.
