A Song for Ella Grey

Join playwright Zoe Cooper and director Esther Richardson in an exclusive pre-show talk before the world premiere of Zoe’s adaptation of David Almond’s young-adult novel, A Song for Ella Grey. Writer and Director will discuss their creative practice and the exciting challenge of adaptation, revealing the extraordinary collaborative process behind bringing this story, a Northumberland reimagining of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, to Northern Stage.

Zoe Cooper is a multi-award winning playwright and dramaturge, and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Newcastle University.

Esther Richardson is the Artistic Director and Joint CEO of Pilot Theatre, a national and international touring theatre company based in York, creating work for, by and with teenagers and young adults. She also works with leading theatres across the UK.
