Professor Pauline Dixon

Pauline is Professor of International Development and Education within the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences at Newcastle University. Since 2000 she has undertaken research in poor and slum areas of India, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, China, and Tanzania. Her research investigates education for the poorest including low cost private schools run by local entrepreneurs, testing the attainment levels of 36,000 children around the world. She is an advisor to governments around the world. Her book International Aid and Private Schools for the Poor was named one of the top 100 books of 2013 by the Times Literary Supplement. She has been awarded a Luminary Award from South Africa in honor of her unique contribution to the advancement of mankind and the eradication of poverty. She has appeared on many TV and radio shows including CNBC Africa and Kilimanjaro radio.
