Our academic staff located in Singapore actively conduct research for industry and government in many diverse fields of interest.
The School was highly placed in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.
We were placed in the top quartile for world-leading outputs. 81% of our research rated as 'world-leading' or 'internationally-excellent'.

Microwave processing of materials.
Development of lightweight metallic composite materials.
Computer simulation and modelling of microwave heating and mechanical structures.
Development of additive manufacturing technologies for metal-based materials.

Dr Kheng-Lim Goh
Associate Professor
Research interests include the following areas:
Synthesis and characterisation of polymer- and biopolymer-based composites reinforced by nanoparticles: halloysite nanotubes, polyhedral oligomeric silseisquioxane, and hydroxyapatite.
Fundamentals of fibre and particle reinforced composites - engineering novel discontinuous fibres, particles for reinforcing composites, functionalization of the fibre-matrix interface.
Structure-function relationship of connective tissue - extracellular matrix, cell-matrix interaction, fibril biomechanics, age-related changes.
