Postgraduate Research Scholarships

Working with SIT and Singapore polytechnics to provide PhD training in Singapore.

About the research scheme

This postgraduate research scheme was established to provide PhD training to build academic and research capacity in Singapore.

The scheme is a collaboration between the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and the five local polytechnics:

  • Nanyang Polytechnic
  • Ngee Ann Polytechnic
  • Republic Polytechnic
  • Singapore Polytechnic
  • Temasek Polytechnic
Research areas

Scholarships are available in the following areas:

  • food and human nutrition
  • chemical engineering and advanced materials
  • marine engineering
  • naval architecture
  • offshore engineering
  • mechanical and system design
  • electrical and power engineering
  • civil engineering
  • computing

Award terms

Duration

  • Full-time: Three years
  • Part-time: Five years

Value amount

  • Full tuition fee sponsorship: ±S$100,000
  • Salary and all related allowances and bonuses (if any), including employer’s CPF contributions.

Research project expenses will also be covered, subject to the polytechnics’ policies. This could include equipment, consumables, travel, conferences, overseas accommodation and publications.


Eligibility

To be eligible for this award you must:

  • meet the University’s admission and academic requirements
  • be an employee of one of the involved polytechnics
  • be nominated by a polytechnic
  • have research interests that fit the research areas above
